Of the worthy causes you'll see in the world, War Child is surely high up that list. For the uniformed:
War Child International is a family of independent humanitarian organisations which work together to help children and young people affected by armed conflict. We seek to complement the work of each of our organisations in a way that maximizes our collective efforts for the benefit of children and young people.
War Child International exists to create the conditions that will fulfill the protection, development and survival rights for children and young people who are living with or recovering from the effects of armed conflict.
War Child works in many different conflict areas around the world, helping hundreds of thousands of children every year.
Well, now you have a chance to support this cause and to also see the musical genius that is Leftfield live while doing so. Leftfield have been, for over ten years now, the defining music in my life. In the early nineties they fused dub and house music to craft, alongside The Chemical Brothers and Orbital, the musical shape of the decade. I've seen Leftfield twice now on their reunion tour and I can't wait for this gig.
That said, it's important that people donate to the charity. If you can afford to spend £30 on a ticket to an entertainment event, reflect for a minute that you can probably afford (we often say "I can't afford" when that's not what we actually mean) to donate the SAME AMOUNT to War Child. That's what I've done with my ticket. £30 will pay for a child to receive a basic schooling in many of the areas in which War Child works. These kids will never, how much we wish, have the same fortune as we who have never known their horrors. Have a great night out and improve a child's life at little cost to yourself.
